Ring in 2015 this New Year on the Las Vegas Strip with Fireworks, Road Closures...

and over 300,000 visitors and locals, who are expected to fill the frosty streets of Las Vegas Blvd. this New Year’s Eve. Las Vegas Metro Police Department has issued the following list of street closures and time frames for the super-sized street party. Plan accordingly, dress warm the forecast says it will be chilly and near freezing. Don’t be left out in the cold, expect the casinos to be packed, with many closing their doors before midnight, to assure the fire codes and maximum capacities are not exceeded. The 6pm curfew for minors under 18 will be strictly enforced and will run until 5am New Year’s Day, so parents stay close to your youngsters. Metal and glass containers have been banned on the streets according to a city ordinance, so plastic glass wear is your toasting vessel of choice. Keep in mind, large bags and backpacks are not allowed. Celebrate Vegas Style and make this year one to remember!

NEW YEAR’S EVE 2014 ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION

DOWNTOWN/FREMONT STREET EXPERIENCE:

4:00 p.m.–The Fremont Street Experience will be closed to the public.

6:00 p.m.–The Fremont Street Experience gates open for entertainment.

LAS VEGAS BLVD (STRIP) CLOSURE INFORMATION:

NOTE: Throughout the evening, east-west travel on Sahara Avenue, Mandalay Bay Road, Desert Inn Road, Frank Sinatra Drive, Koval Lane, Russell Road, US95 and -215 will remain unrestricted. Harmon Avenue/Bridge will be limited to vehicle traffic from the West leading to City Center by hotels guests only. Vehicle traffic on Harmon Avenue, East of Las Vegas Boulevard, will be limited to hotel properties.

Below is a schedule of the anticipated road closures and re-openings.

NOTE: Road closure times are approximate and subject to change without notice.

• 5:00 p.m.--Closing of off ramps from I-15 onto eastbound Tropicana Avenue, Flamingo Road and Spring Mountain Road by NHP/NDOT begins.
• 5:45 p.m.--The closing of all other streets, roads and alleys leading Westbound onto Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Mandalay Bay Road from Koval Lane will begin.
• 6:00 p.m.--All streets, roads and alleys leading onto Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Mandalay Bay Road will be closed with all barricades in place.
• 6:15 p.m.--L.V.M.P.D. Traffic Officers begin clearing all vehicular traffic off Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Mandalay Bay Road.
• 6:30 p.m.--Las Vegas Boulevard along with all inbound roads leading onto Las Vegas Boulevard are Fully closed to vehicle traffic.
• 6:30 p.m.--All Moving walkways, elevators and escalators leading to or crossing Las Vegas Boulevard will be shut off.
• Approximately 6:30 p.m.--Las Vegas Boulevard fully opens to pedestrian traffic.
• 12:00 a.m.-12:15 a.m.--Fireworks show takes place on Strip and Fremont Street.--LAS VEGAS BLVD (STRIP)

RE-OPENING INFORMATION:

Note: All re-opening times are approximate.

• 12:15 a.m.--All Moving walkways, elevators and escalators leading to or crossing Las Vegas Boulevard will resume operation.
• 1:30 a.m.--All celebrations normally subside. Barricade removal begins
• 2:00 a.m.--Street sweepers begin clean up, working from South to North.
• 3:30 a.m.–Reopening of off ramps from I-15 onto Eastbound Tropicana Avenue, Flamingo Road and Spring Mountain Road by NHP /NDOT begins. All other streets, roads and alleys leading onto Las Vegas Boulevard between Sahara Avenue and Russell Road will begin re-opening.

Track his progress… Santa will be here before you know it, well at least once the kids have visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads…

I know as a kid it was always a big deal to my siblings and I to know we made it to the “good list” and just couldn’t wait for Santa’s arrival. I liked to sleep-in (I wasn’t much of a morning person) (my Dad agreed, sleeping in was a good idea), whereas my 4 siblings (and Mom) liked to rise before the sun. Mom and Dad’s heads would have often just hit their pillows when the first of my siblings would awake and make sure the entire house was ready for the unwrapping extravaganza. It was a big deal. Now with 11 nieces and nephews I see Santa’s arrival from a different perspective (from the eyes of a child) and I don’t mind the missed sleep quite as much.  With stops in 3 states (Idaho, California, and Nevada) for my family I know it’s a big deal to know when Mr. Clause will arrive. When I lived in Colorado Springs, I learned of NORAD, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (a United States and Canada bi-national organization who monitors aerospace warnings and is in charged of aerospace control for North America) that has a base that sits above a hilltop on the outskirts of town and tracks Santa’s delivery stops, kind of like tracking a FEDEX package during the holidays.  You too can track Santa's journey and his progress, as he circles the globe, and see his expected arrival time to Las Vegas. Hopefully you made it to the good list, and he will be stopping by tonight. Be sure to leave the cookies and milk by the fireplace, Santa will be leaving treats for all the good little boys and girls.

“Come one, come all! Come in peace or don’t come at all! Insomniac is thrilled to announce Electronic Daisy Festival (EDC) Las Vegas 2015 tickets are on sale.” The festival will take place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Father’s Day weekend, June 19-21 for three nights of “super blooming beats and funkdafied freaks”, as Las Vegas locals and visitors alike will celebrate music, love and life. 

Tickets went on sale today, December 1, 2014 at noon pacific time. General admission tickets ($349) are available at an Early Owl price of $329 for the 3 days. Payments plans (starting at $73.55/month) will help you spread the cost of multiple paychecks. 3 day VIP tickets are available for $699 (VIP ticket holders will have access to rapid entry, a special viewing stage, private lounge areas and restrooms, and a souvenir laminate and lanyard, VIP ticket holders must be 21 and older) and payments plans are available as well). Single-day tickets are not available, but cabana packages will be sold on a single-day basis. Package details will be released soon. A maximum of 6 passes will be sold per person. Tickets are expected to arrive in a special EDC box with other collectible items.

$1 from every General Admission and VIP ticket will be donated to support nonprofit charitable organizations. The festival is open to patrons 18+ years old and alcohol available for those 21 and over. Shuttle packages and hotel discounts are available. With multiple stages, carnival rides, and art installations and so much more, it will be a “magical weekend under the Electric Sky.”
